Places In Egypt That Everyone Should Visit
Deserted and hot Egypt is an ancient country shrouded in myths and legends. There are many historical and natural attractions here – from the majestic pyramids to the magical walls of the Colored Canyon.
What sights of Egypt must see? Of course, the pyramids. They can be seen from the windows of planes flying over Cairo – they are so huge. Since the time of the ancient kingdoms, Cairo has grown, and the pyramids were literally in the suburbs of the Egyptian capital. The most convenient way to go on an excursion to the pyramids is from Cairo itself, the journey from Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh takes 6 hours by bus. The first part of the tour includes viewing the exhibits of the Cairo State Museum – there you will see the golden mask of Pharaoh Tutankhamen, mummies, sculptures of falcons and cats, jewelry and objects of ancient Egyptian life. The second part is a direct inspection of the pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. In the evening, a laser show is held at the foot of the statue and against the backdrop of the pyramids.
The second attraction, which is also a must-see, is the temple complex in Luxor. You can get to it only from Hurghada (in 5 hours), from Sharm el-Sheikh you will have to fly by plane – it’s too far away. Hundred Gate Thebes, the capital of Ancient Egypt, welcomes its guests with the Karnak temple with 134 columns. In the “City of the Dead” is the “Valley of the Kings” – the tomb of the Egyptian pharaohs. It is worth taking a picture with the colossi of Memnon. Here is the temple of Pharaoh Hatshepsut, carved into the rock.
In addition to historical attractions, Egypt also has natural ones. These are the Colored Canyon in Nuweiba and the luxurious Ras Nasrani Marine Reserve with its underwater gardens. For divers in the Red Sea, a real expanse – you can admire plenty of coral fish, manta rays – giant rays, turtles, dugongs and other inhabitants of the depths.
If you are vacationing in Sharm el-Sheikh, do not miss the opportunity to meet the sunrise on Mount Moses. According to legend, whoever climbs the mountain and spends the night there, all sins will be forgiven. It is very cold at night, bring warm clothes. At the foot of Mount Moses is the Orthodox monastery of St. Catherine and the Burning Bush.
From Sharm El Sheikh there are also excursions to Jordan – to the ancient stone city of Petra and to Israel – to the Dead Sea and the shrines of Jerusalem. Excursions take a whole day, sometimes two.
Prices for excursions in Egypt are different, as a rule, they are more expensive with a tour operator than in travel agencies on shopping streets. However, street vendors do not give any guarantees of your safety on the road and near the sights, and also do not guarantee that you will have a Russian-speaking guide with you.
In addition to temples, pyramids and diving, in Egypt you can go to the theatrical performance “Thousand and One Nights”, dedicated to the history of Egypt; ride on yachts; go on a jeep safari in the desert; have fun in one of the many water parks. Photos of the sights of Egypt will take their rightful place in your family archive. Choose to your taste – there is always something to see in Egypt.
